After making the incision the breast tissue from the muscles and connective tissue from the chest are separated. This creates a pocket either in front of the muscle wall or behind it. The implants are then inserted and the incision is closed after that. Two types of implants are being used- saline implants (inserted empty and later filled with sterile saltwater) and silicone implants (pre-filled with silicone gel).

What Happens After The Surgery?

After the procedure soreness and swelling might be felt for a few weeks. Also, you might be prescribed medications for pain and scars. They go with time.

While you heal, your surgeon may recommend you to wear a sports bra or wear a compression bandage for extra support and positioning of breast implants. For the next few weeks after surgery, you might be asked to not undergo any stressful physical activity. This surgery improves your breast shape and size. Keeping things realistic, weight change or increase might change the shape of the breast. So, maintaining a stable weight is important.
